When I Look at a Strawberry, I Think of a Tongue. is the multidisciplinary project of Lisi Estaras, Kristien De Proost, Mirko Banovic, Sara Vanderieck and guests Sayouba Sigué and Rahmat Emonds. The title, a metaphor by author Edouard Levé, is an obvious reference to the constant search and self-reflection in this performance. Just as a dialogue always depends on the response of the listener, artists
manipulate each show to make it a unique performance: the narration varies depending on the location, the day on the calendar and the audience present. An agile work that is still far from what you thought you knew about improvisation. The "playlist" is different for each performance, depending on the state of the world,
relationships between the artists and their relationship with the context, the playing space and the audience that day.
The result of the approach of When I Look at a Strawberry, I Think of a Language. is one of a kind: the bass, fiery movements, contrasting images and sharp language always reach a climax on stage. The performers find themselves in an organized freedom and a subtle polygonal relationship
which thrives in a unique interaction with the public. The different paintings form together an inspiring and expressive story about social and political engagement, desire, parenthood and personal development at the intersection of the abstract and the concrete, fiction and reality.
A creation by Lisi Estaras, Mirko Banovic, Kristien De Proost & Sara Vanderieck with Sayouba Sigué & Rahmat Emonds.
